Canon RF-S 7.8mm f/4 STM Dual Lens: Affordable 3D Content Creation for Canon RF Mount
The Canon RF-S 7.8mm f/4 STM Dual Lens is an innovative stereoscopic lens designed for APS-C format Canon RF-mount cameras, notably the EOS R7. This compact and lightweight lens enables creators to produce immersive 3D and VR content with ease, making it an accessible tool for both enthusiasts and professionals.
Key Features
-
Stereoscopic Dual Design: The lens features a dual-lens configuration with a baseline length of 11.8mm, merging two separate images to create a center-projection 3D image. This design facilitates the capture of realistic and immersive 3D content.
-
7.8mm Focal Length: With a 7.8mm focal length, equivalent to approximately 12.6mm on a full-frame sensor, the lens provides a 63° field of view, offering a perspective similar to human vision. This focal length is ideal for capturing detailed 3D content.
-
Constant f/4 Aperture: The lens maintains a constant f/4 aperture, ensuring consistent exposure across various lighting conditions and contributing to a balanced depth of field in 3D imagery.
-
STM Autofocus System: Equipped with a gear-type Stepping Motor (STM), the lens delivers fast, quiet, and precise autofocus performance, enhancing usability for both still photography and video recording.
-
Compact and Lightweight: Weighing approximately 131 grams and measuring about 42mm in length, the lens's small form factor makes it highly portable and convenient for on-the-go 3D content creation.
-
Ultra-Low Dispersion Elements: Incorporating two Ultra-Low Dispersion (UD) elements, the lens effectively reduces chromatic aberrations and color fringing, resulting in high-quality, clear, and sharp 3D images.
-
Minimum Focusing Distance: The lens offers a minimum focusing distance of 0.15 meters, allowing creators to capture subjects as close as 6 inches, which is particularly beneficial for achieving pronounced 3D effects in close-up shots.
The Canon RF-S 7.8mm f/4 STM Dual Lens stands as a groundbreaking tool for creators seeking to delve into 3D and VR content production. Its combination of a compact design, user-friendly features, and affordability makes it an attractive option for expanding creative horizons in the realm of immersive media.
