Premium Design & Build
The Nikon 180-400mm f/4E TC1.4 is engineered for professional field use with rugged construction, internal zoom, and weather sealing for reliability in harsh conditions. It measures approximately 124 mm in diameter and 362.5 mm in length and weighs about 3500 g, balancing durability with confident handling for long shooting sessions.
Brilliant Optical Performance
Delivering outstanding clarity across the zoom range, this lens features a sophisticated optical design of 27 elements in 19 groups, including 1 Fluorite (FL) element and 8 ED elements to help minimise chromatic aberration and maximise sharpness. Nikon’s Nano Crystal Coat helps reduce flare and ghosting, while fluorine coating aids cleaning and protection—ideal for outdoor wildlife and sports environments.
Built-In Teleconverter for Instant Reach
A key advantage of the 180-400mm f/4E is its integrated 1.4x teleconverter, engaged via a lever for fast transitions without removing the lens. This extends the focal length to 252-560mm while maintaining strong optical performance—perfect when subjects move farther away in an instant.
Fast, Accurate Autofocus & Stabilisation
Powered by Nikon’s AF-S Silent Wave Motor, autofocus is fast and quiet for tracking unpredictable motion. The lens includes Vibration Reduction (VR) to reduce camera shake for sharper handheld shots, especially at longer focal lengths. The E-type electromagnetic diaphragm supports consistent exposure during high-speed bursts—crucial for action and professional sports coverage.
Close Focus & Filter Support
For tighter compositions, the lens focuses as close as approximately 2.0 m (from the focal plane). It supports a large 40.5mm drop-in filter system, making it easy to use polarising or ND filters in demanding pro workflows.
