Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 DC Art Lens (FUJIFILM X) - Brand New

Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 DC Art Lens (FUJIFILM X) - Brand New: Fast f/1.8 Standard Zoom Performance in Australia

The Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 DC Art Lens (FUJIFILM X) - Brand New delivers exceptional optical clarity and creative flexibility for APS-C mirrorless creators across Australia. Engineered specifically for Fujifilm X-mount camera bodies, this groundbreaking zoom pairs a versatile 17 to 40mm focal length (equivalent to 25.5mm to 60mm in 35mm full-frame format) with a bright, constant f/1.8 maximum aperture throughout the zoom range. Whether you are photographing landscapes, portraits, documentary projects, or capturing cinematic video, this high-performance zoom offers the rendering standard of prime lenses with the everyday convenience of a standard zoom.

Versatile Wide-to-Standard Zoom Range

Covering an angle of view from 79.7° at the wide end to 39.1° at the telephoto end, the Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 DC Art Lens covers essential framing scenarios in a single package. With an effective 35mm full-frame equivalent focal length of 25.5mm to 60mm, photographers and filmmakers can transition seamlessly from wide environmental compositions and street scenes to tight framing for portraits and detail shots without swapping lenses in the field.

Constant f/1.8 Maximum Aperture

Unlike conventional standard zooms that are limited to f/2.8 or variable maximum apertures, this Art-series zoom maintains an ultra-fast f/1.8 aperture right through to 40mm. This expansive light-gathering capability allows you to shoot in low-light environments with cleaner ISO values and faster shutter speeds. It also provides shallow depth-of-field control on APS-C sensors, creating beautiful subject isolation against softly blurred backgrounds.

Advanced Optical Construction

Built to meet the rigorous benchmarks of Sigma's Art line, the optical design incorporates 17 elements arranged in 11 groups. This refined optical configuration works to suppress chromatic aberrations, distortion, and spherical imperfections across the frame. Image contrast, colour accuracy, and edge-to-edge sharpness remain remarkably consistent across the entire zoom range, even when shooting wide open at f/1.8.

Smooth 11-Blade Rounded Diaphragm

Equipped with an 11-blade rounded iris diaphragm, the Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 DC Art produces smooth, circular out-of-focus highlights throughout its aperture settings. The 11-blade structure contributes to a gradual, natural roll-off between sharp subject detail and the background, giving portraits, wedding imagery, and narrative video footage a refined, professional bokeh aesthetic.

Responsive Autofocus and Close-Up Capability

Equipped with a precise autofocus motor, this lens provides quiet, reliable, and swift focus tracking compatible with Fujifilm’s onboard autofocus features, including eye and face detection. For close-up photography, the lens boasts a minimum focusing distance of 28 cm (11 inches) and a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:4.8 (0.21x magnification), letting creators capture rich, detailed frames of food, products, and close-up textures.

Streamlined Form Factor and Handling

Measuring 72.9 mm in diameter by 117.9 mm in length (2.9 x 4.6 inches) and weighing approximately 525 g (18.5 oz), the lens is significantly lighter and easier to balance than older DSLR zooms of equivalent speed. Its internal zoom configuration ensures the overall physical length does not extend during operation, making it particularly well balanced when mounted on handheld gimbals or video rigs. The front 67 mm filter thread also provides standard compatibility with everyday circular polarisers and neutral density filters.

Dedicated FUJIFILM X-Mount Integration

Engineered directly for the FUJIFILM X-mount system, the lens communicates seamlessly with your camera body for electronic aperture control, accurate EXIF metadata capture, and compatibility with in-camera correction profiles. If your Fujifilm body includes in-body image stabilisation (IBIS), the lens integrates with the camera's sensor-shift system to deliver stable handheld stills and steady video footage.
