Premium Design & Build
The Sony FX30 Digital Cinema Camera combines professional Cinema Line functionality with a compact body designed for flexible solo and production workflows. Measuring approximately 129.7 x 77.8 x 84.5 mm, the camera weighs around 562 g body only or approximately 646 g with the battery and memory card installed. Its compact form makes it suitable for handheld rigs, gimbals, travel shoots, and more complex production setups while maintaining the practical control layout expected from Sony's Cinema Line.
Brilliant Display
Monitor and compose footage confidently using the Sony FX30's 3.0-inch vari-angle touchscreen LCD with approximately 2.36 million dots. The display opens approximately 176 degrees and rotates approximately 270 degrees, providing flexible positioning for low-angle, high-angle, front-facing, and rig-mounted shooting. Touch operation also provides convenient access to key controls during demanding filmmaking workflows.
Professional Camera System
Capture cinematic footage with the Sony FX30 Digital Cinema Camera's back-illuminated Super 35 APS-C Exmor R CMOS sensor and powerful BIONZ XR image processor. The sensor provides approximately 20.1 MP effective resolution for movies and 26.0 MP for still images, while 6K oversampling helps produce highly detailed 4K footage. Sony's Fast Hybrid AF system provides 495 phase-detection autofocus points for movie shooting, along with Eye AF for humans, animals, and birds, helping maintain reliable focus across a wide range of subjects.
Powerful Performance
Experience advanced filmmaking performance with the Sony FX30, capable of recording 4K video at up to 119.88p in NTSC or 100p in PAL modes. The camera supports 10-bit 4:2:2 recording in compatible XAVC formats, along with S-Cinetone for cinematic colour straight from the camera and S-Log3 for more flexible colour grading. Sony specifies more than 14 stops of latitude with S-Log3. The FX30 also supports DCI 4K recording, Slow & Quick Motion modes, Cine EI workflows, and 16-bit RAW video output through HDMI, delivering extensive options for professional post-production.
Battery Life & Charging
The Sony FX30 uses Sony's high-capacity NP-FZ100 rechargeable battery. Sony rates the camera for approximately 115 minutes of actual movie recording or approximately 175 minutes of continuous movie recording under CIPA testing conditions, along with approximately 570 still images. Its USB Type-C interface provides convenient connectivity for modern production workflows, helping creators stay productive during longer shooting sessions.

The Sony FX30 provides extensive connectivity for modern video production, including Wi-Fi on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C with SuperSpeed USB 10 Gbps support, a full-size HDMI Type-A output, headphone and microphone connections, and timecode input support. Two flexible media slots each accept compatible CFexpress Type A or SD memory cards and support simultaneous recording, media sorting, and automatic media switching.
