Premium Design & Build
The Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD Lens Nikon Z combines impressive versatility with a compact, practical design. Measuring approximately 121.3 mm in length with a maximum diameter of 74.6 mm and weighing approximately 540 g, it remains highly portable for travel, street photography and everyday use. Moisture-Resistant Construction and a fluorine coating provide additional protection for demanding shooting environments, while the unified 67 mm filter diameter makes compatible filters easy to manage.
Versatile 17-70mm Zoom Range
Cover an impressive variety of subjects with the Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD Lens Nikon Z. Its 17-70mm focal range provides a 25.5-105mm full-frame equivalent on Nikon APS-C cameras, delivering a class-leading 4.1x zoom ratio among fast-aperture F2.8 standard zoom lenses for APS-C mirrorless cameras as of May 2026 according to Tamron. From landscapes, architecture and street photography to portraits and everyday details, the broad range makes this lens an excellent all-rounder.
Constant F2.8 Aperture & Optical Performance
Enjoy consistent creative control with a fast F2.8 maximum aperture throughout the entire zoom range. The optical construction consists of 16 elements in 12 groups, including specialised LD, GM and hybrid aspherical elements engineered to achieve high resolution and contrast from the centre to the edges of the frame. The 9-blade circular diaphragm also helps produce smooth, attractive background blur, making the lens highly capable for portraits, low-light photography and subject isolation.
Fast RXD Autofocus
The Tamron 17-70mm Nikon Z uses Tamron's RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) autofocus system for fast, precise and quiet focusing. The motor directly drives the focusing lens for responsive operation, helping photographers capture spontaneous moments while also supporting discreet video recording. Suppressed autofocus noise and reduced focus breathing make the lens particularly useful for hybrid creators shooting both still images and video.
Vibration Compensation
The Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD Lens Nikon Z features Tamron's proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanism to reduce image degradation caused by camera shake. This is especially useful for handheld photography at slower shutter speeds, including indoor scenes, twilight photography and nightscapes. During video recording, stabilization automatically provides suitable compensation across a wide variety of shooting situations.
Close-Focusing Capability
The Tamron 17-70mm offers impressive close-focusing versatility, with a minimum object distance of just 0.19 m at 17mm and 0.39 m at 70mm. Maximum magnification reaches 1:4.8 at the wide end and 1:5.2 at the telephoto end, making it possible to create dynamic close-up compositions while maintaining the convenience of a standard zoom lens.
Smart Features & Compatibility
The Tamron 17-70mm Nikon Z is engineered specifically for Nikon Z-mount APS-C mirrorless cameras and is developed, manufactured and sold under licence from Nikon Corporation. Nikon Z users can also update lens firmware using the PC version of TAMRON Lens Utility, helping keep the lens up to date with compatible firmware improvements. A flower-shaped lens hood, front cap and rear cap are included as standard accessories.
